Trip to the Science Lab

Today, my class went to the science lab. We have been learning about Sedimentary, Metamorphic, and Igneous rock. At the science lab, we were put into three pods and each pod was given some sand, some small pieces of rock, and some bits of junk. We then had to add a little bit at a time and put it on tin foil. We then wrapped the tin foil up. That is how Sedimentary rock is made. After that, we changed it into Metamorphic rock by putting a big book on it which is pressure and which also gives off friction so it is also heat. By putting that on a hot plate which gives off intense heat, we changed it into Igneous rock. We had such a great time!

If you want to do this here is what you need:

Hotplate                    3 Miny Cups          Sand

Pieces of Rock         Tin Foil                  Junk (such as bits of crayon)

This is a great description of our Science Lab Experience. I love how you included links in your post. It was informative, and also helpful to anyone that might want to try this experiment on their own. I would be thrilled to see you add some pictures, or even create your own to add to this post.
