My Areas I Improved In 4th Grade.

Let me tell you what areas I improved in fourth grade..Math, Blogging and Spelling.

First, Math I was really bad with math I was very slow on minute math papers then my teacher Mrs.Teitelbaum helped me and gave me a few tricks (Credit to Mrs. Kagan a amazing teacher for every subject.) and now I am great at math multiplication, dividing, multiplying decimals and dividing decimals.

Second, Blogging. Blogging is pretty much like a conversation but not live conversation. I didn’t get blogging until Mrs.Teitelbaum helped me (Credit to Mrs.Kagan, Mrs.Hallet, Mrs.Tolisano and Mrs.Hernandez.) I became great at blogging and now I have about 20-30 posts that are interesting.

Third, Spelling. I was really good at spelling until forth grade. It got so hard! Then Mrs.Teitelbaum came in and told me a few tricks like break it up into pieces (Thanks-Giving) Now I am really good at spelling!

My Vietnam War Report

I did a book report (I did not read a book though. I actually searched it up) On The Battle Of Khe Sahn. I’ll show you it right now. (It’s really long and boring but informative.)

The Battle of Khe Sanh was the worst battle in the Vietnam War. It lasted long and many people died. The Americans and South Vietnam won the battle with fewer men than the North Vietnam army. 14,000-24,000 men overran the allies. The Battle of Khe Sanh started from artillery ambush. It was very bloody and people are still dying from its aftermath.The Battle of Khe Sanh was actually named after the village of Khe Sanh. The Allies were defending it. The enemies were called the PAVN. PAVN stands for People’s Army of North Vietnam. The reason Khe Sanh was attacked was because of its location. It was so close to the North-South Vietnamese border and far away from Saigon, the South Vietnam capital, that it was an easy target for the North Vietnamese.The reason why the battle was so bloody was because of the weapons used. The common weapons used for the allied infantrymen during Khe Sanh were the M16. It was the most common weapon for medics and assault men. The M60 was the most common heavy machine gun used by the allied forces in the Battle of Khe Sanh. The most common tanks used in Khe Sanh for the allied forces were the M-48. The PAVN did not use tanks because of their soggy jungle terrain. So they used transport tanks like the M113. Another weapon used was the 105 mm Howitzer, which was the artillery ambush starter mostly used by the Germans in World War II. It was a towed artillery weapon. The most important bomber was the B-52 stratofortress. The reason the B-52 was so important was because of its payload (bombs) and it could hold 60,000 pounds of bombs! Its wingspan was 185 feet. Its height was 40 feet; its length was 159 feet. It could go 650 miles per hour!The allied forces took 220 deaths and 7 missing. The PAVN took 10,000-15,000 deaths. The total number of dead combined on both sides is 10,220 to 15,220. People are still dying today because of the bombs. Some of the bombs that hit the ground from the B-52 planes were duds (bombs that did not explode on impact). So when farmers set up their fields and go to harvest their crops, all of a sudden, a bomb may blow up. Artillery bombs are still there, because shortly after the Battle of Khe Sanh ended, the Americans decided, “This is not a big war effort after all.” So they cleared everything they had there except the bombs.The Battle of Khe Sanh was the bloodiest battle of the Vietnam War. It was fought between the PAVN and the allied forces. It was also the most important battle in the Vietnam War, because the allied forces were ambushed and a lot of people died. A battle like this will never happen again, because the Americans will be larger in forces and we have more advanced weapons now.

Savannah, GA Field Trip!

First, the bus ride, we went in a special bus called a Charter bus it is a very big and comfy bus because of the long ride to Savannah. When we got to Savannah we went to the visitor center and saw a video. Then we went to the history museum and I saw something amazing, the original Forrest Gump bench, but it was a copy. (Forrest Gump was a movie filmed about a kid who had an exciting life, and he was a Vietnam veteran) It was filmed in a park in Savannah. Then, we went to the church where we learned about the first African-American church in the world. We got to see the air holes for the little bunker underground that hid the escaped African-American slaves during the civil war. After that we went to Old Fort Jackson and we got to see how the soldiers in the civil war were treated. We did a few orders. Then, checked out the doctor’s office. Then, we got to see the clothing they wore. Then, we got to see a cannon shoot off! We were supposed to go to the synagogue but Mother Nature ruined everything and it poured. So, we went on the bus and went home. During the bus ride home we went in the middle of a storm and it was raining so hard leaves from the forest flew onto the windows!

Planet Mars! (Home of the zombies!)

NASA has recently discovered life on Mars! Out of all the people in the world they chose me so I am going to tell you what happened.

Chapter 1

I was going to get my mail and I saw a very neat letter. So i go to pick it up and it says you have been invited to go to mars I was very shocked at this “Me,going to mars?” This is weird so I get in my car and drive to the NASA space center.

Chapter 2

I get to the NASA space center and they ask “Do you want a tour?” I say I am here to go to mars they said come with us. I go with them and there it is the space shuttle I go “Wow!”That’s big!” They give me a space suit and I met three friends Sam,Charlie and Five (He has been to mars 5 times.) We get in the space shuttle and they say we are taking off in 10 minutes so I pull out my cell phone and play my phone.

Chapter 3

After playing on my phone Charlie says Look! I look and there it is space I dropped my mouth open wide. I was amazed and about 2 minutes later I got bored looking at space so I went on my phone and it was out of batteries I say ugh and 8 minutes later we find mars and we land. It was bumpy and uncomfortable. we put on our air tanks and outpace helmets and open the door and we see zombies every where we shut the door and locked it.

Chapter 4

We try to take off put the ship won’t take off. We hear a beeping we go over to the computer showing the ship and the engines were red (that means it is destroyed)Five says come with me we follow him and opens a door he takes out a machine gun and a pistol and armor he gives it to us and we put the armor on and put the pistol in a holster. we unlock the door and open it and shoot all the zombies. We run and see a house and we think ”That’s weird. A house in space?” So we open the door and lock and close it.

Chapter 5

We see a old man walking around with a shotgun and he aims it at us. We say don’t shoot he puts the gun down and he says “Who area you?” Five says “We are from the NASA space center. I’d like to introduce you to to My friends Charlie,Sam and Liam and I”m Five but my real name is Steve.” I said where can we get engines to get back to earth? The old man said over there,by that military base,take my tank. It will help you. he said follow me and we followed him.

Chapter 6

He led us to a garage and a old,rusty tank from The war of Vietnam. Five said “We are supposed to fight,with this!?’ The old man said “Oh, I forgot to tell you. It is a secret weapon from Vietnam. It was a progect.” Cool said Sam Let’s go. We get in the tank. Five drives the tank Charlie reloads the cannon Liam gets on the machine gun and Sam reloads the machine gun. I start shooting all the zombies and about 10 miners later we get to the military base. We ask the men food a new engine and they say yes.

Chapter7

We strap the engine to the tank and we drive back to the ship. The old man comes and asks us if he can go with us we say sure. We install the engine and fly back to earth and the whole team gets on their computers and writes this story.

This is never happened so don’t believe it.

Where Would I Live?

Today, I was assigned to a project and it was about where I would choose to live for the rest of my life. The options were The Library , Museum, or the Zoo. I chose the Zoo because the library only has books. The museum I would see everything in 2 days and get bored, but at the zoo, animals do different things everyday. At the library and museum usually they don’t have food. Zoos have food carts! Maybe even restaurants! I will meet loads of people. I will probably sleep on the booths in the restaurants, or an animal’s cave, though I will definitely not sleep in the snakes cave!

Where will I wash my body? I will wash myself in the fountains of course! I will run around all day long and I will explore the park so much that if somebody gets lost I will lead them to where they want to go. I’ll be like a walking and talking map! I would walk around and pretty much say hi to the animals and say goodnight to the animals. Witch place would you choose?

Today, we went to the science lab with our teacher Mrs.Burkhart. We learned what conducts electricity. I know what you are thinking “What is a conductor?” A conductor is something that has metal in it,or is metal.Our teacher got wires ,big batteries and 2 light bulbs to test. The things we tested were a straw, a nail, a glass rod, a paperclip, a diode, an eraser, a copper strip and a popsicle stick. The test was really fun, but the thing that was the most fun was playing with the plasma ball. A plasma ball is a glass ball with a special ball in the middle and some gasses and electricity. Hyperlink Experiment!

Today, we wrote a paragraph with our teacher Mrs.Tolisano . The paragraph (or a few sentences) was called Surfing The Web,and i am going to type it all.

On our blogs, we embedded a Clustr map. A Clustr map is a map on your blog that shows you the location of the visitors that visited your blog. The map helps us visualize where our readers are from. On my blog I have a thing called a revolver map. A revolver map is like a cluster map but it is a 3D globe. We have been surfing the virtual globe to countries all around the world, such as Thailand,Switzerland and Czech Republic,because we know that they have read our posts. Comparing paper to computers i think computers are better because on the computer one simple click you can get to something on paper you can’t touch the paper and it will change (I wish).

Quad Blogging Feedback!

What is quad blogging? I will tell you. Quad blogging is four classrooms commenting on their blog. First, one classroom writes a few blog posts and the other classrooms comment on their blog and each classroom gets to receive comments.

I would do a few things to enhance quad blogging. First, all of the classrooms make a bunch of blog posts. Second, 2 classrooms blog on each of their blogs. Third, they switch to the other classrooms and they would all get the comments from each classroom.

My writing has improved by writing paragraphs in comments like explaining more details, asking questions, putting my ideas out ,what I learned from it and what I know about it.
