Like Langston Hughes said “hold fast to your dreams, for without then life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.” Langston Hughes was born on February 1, 1902 in Joplin, MO. When he was little his grandma was owned bye white people in Kentucky. His grandma was African American, french, English, And Native American.

Langston Hughes inspiration was his grandmother. He always stayed with his grandmother because his dad and mom got a divorce and his dad moved to Mexico. His mom moved all around the place. He stayed with his grandmother until she died. She died when he was a teen. So he moved back in with his mom.

The poem The Blues really connects to me because it is about a strugle when you rush and I rush a lot and mess things up. Like in the morning when I am running late for school I mess up my outfit or my makeup or something. Apparently he has struggled too. This poem makes me feel like Iam not the only one going through some bad times here and there.

This is the poem The Blues.

When the shoe strings break
on both your shoes
and you’re in a hurry-
That’s the blues.

When you go to buy a candy bar
and you’ve lost the dime you had-
Slipped through a hole in your pocket somewhere-
That’s the blues, too, and bad!

I really like Langston Hughes, I think he is an insperation to all of us because he shows that you can go through some bad times and still make it out ok.
