End of the First Quarter

Sixth Grade

This is the last week to enter grades for the first nine-week period.  We have completed The Giver in sixth grade.  Sixth graders had their comprehension test this week.  The vocabulary test will be on Tuesday, October 28.  Written reflections for The Giver are due on Friday, October 31, which will be the first grade for the second nine-week period.  The sixth graders will be reading The Night of the Burning by Linda Press Wulf when they return from the retreat.  The students will NOT need to purchase this book since I have a class set. This will take us through the holidays and then we will read The Wave some time after the new year begins. We will continue to work on new vocabulary words, important grammar skills, and writing techniques each week.  We have completed narratives and will begin to work on expository writing.  The students will be learning about post-Great War Europe in correlation with our new class novel.
