Where the Red Fern Grows is about a boy who terribly wants a hunting dog. He bags and prays for a dog for years. His prayers are finally answered when he sees an ad in the paper for them. The dogs cost 25 cents each. He saves up his money for two dogs over the next two years. His grandpa orders them for him. He finally gets them and they have a great time together.
The book Where the Red Fern Grows is a great book. I would recommend it to middle schoolers or older because it has some mature language and some intense contexts. It also is somewhat tear-jerking at the end. I liked the book because it made me have a clear image in my head of what was happening on each page.
