Kindergarten Portraits

Kindergarten self-portraits are incredible!!!!!!! We learned about facial expressions and emotions. They used the Smart Board to create a face!

Kindergartners practiced making a portrait, they made sure to include eyes, nose, mouth, hair, neck and shirt! They redid their pictures onto watercolor paper and painted it with watercolors. The background is a collage using tissue paper.

Matryoshka Dolls- Kindergarten, First & Second Grade

Matryoshka Dolls!

When I was a little girl I would go to my great-grandmother’s apartment every Shabbat. I would play with the nesting doll, Matryoshka, that she brought over from Russia.

Kindergarten, first and second graders looked at the same doll my great-grandmother had and we discussed where the doll came from, Russia. We even had a few students who helped us with the pronunciation of Matryoska.

Thank you to Patty at Deep Space Sparkle for the inspiration for this great lesson!
