I think a "Speed Geeking" session for the parents is a great idea. Many parents would like to learn about new apps and maybe they are just too shy to ask their children. I would also recommend a "Speed Geeking" session for the entire MJGDS staff. Using myself as an example, I am just learning to use imovie and would love to learn more about it from one of my students.

I think that slavery is a very important topic to disgus and that it can come in many different ways from physical slavery like breaking rocks to mental slavery that tires out your mind so much that you fall unconscious. My brother and I performed a skit about modern labor where kids in Africa had to work many hours picking cocoa beans for no pay. They do not get an education and they will unfortunately work picking cocoa beans. There are ways to stop it though you can raise awareness for that cause and many others by fundraising or by not buying chocolate that was made by children in countries where they do not have child labor laws. You can fundraise to help raise money to help the children live a better life. We also explained in the skit that the chocolate that people ate were tears of sadness because of the way they were made I found the whole part of slavery in are seder very inspirational and detailed. Some the other skits included girls having to make soccer balls for a whole day, for thirty cents a soccer ball. I also found the story about Natan Scharanasky very aw inspiring. I thought we learned a lot in that seder.

Shalom, Morah Liat!

My modern slavery story was about little girls in India and Pakistan forced to make soccer balls. Each ball is worth about thirty cents, and it takes three hours to make one. Jamie and I both play soccer which is probably why we were assigned that skit. We used Indian scarves and put them over our heads like Indian women and girls do. Jamie and I then pretended to sew soccer balls. After that, Jamie went out of the room and I pretended to prick my finger with the needle. I said a few more lines, all in Hebrew, and Jamie returned. This time, she had taken off her Indian scarf and was wearing a soccer uniform. We spoke in Hebrew and she asked me if the ball was ready. I tossed the ball to her and she did a 1v1 move, before dribbling out the door.

I learned that not all soccer balls are made in factories by machines. Little girls are forced to make them instead! I am very glad that is not me. To help the people I portrayed, I can raise awareness by educating people about the Indian girls and also by only buying soccer balls made in America. I could also raise money to give to the girls and their families, or find them a better job.

At our model seder, we practiced different types of slavery. Itamar and I were acting as children from Africa. These children had to pick cocoa beans every single day and they got no money. All these children did not get one shot at at a real life with education, a home to live in, and hot meals to eat which is very sad. That is child abuse and I can't believe nobody has done anything about it. When I get older I will put an end to slavery. Everybody takes what they have for granted and they should think about all of the people are not as fortunate as us and would be glad to have one bowl of soup. I learned that you should not take things for granted and waste food because some people are not as privileged. So, the next time your about to throw away food, think about all of the people that don't have any.

Dear Morah Liat,
My skit was about the dark skinned slaves that were forced to pick cotton off of cotton plants. My partner was Rebecca, and we read something that tells the audience about the slavery while we picked up cotton balls up from the ground. We wore black and we practiced many times. The slavery took place when the dark skinned people were slaves.

If I could go to the past and change things, changing the cotton picking slavery would definitely be one of the things I change. I would also try to change what the pharaoh did the Israelites.

I really enjoyed the Seder that we did and I am upset that that would be our last one! The experience was fun and I am happy that you taught us about slavery and freedom!
