50th Anniversary Celebration of MJGDS

This May our school will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The students were asked to imagine what school was like fifty years ago. Please visit their blogs to see what they think school was like back in 1962!  http://mjgds.org/students/

Post of the Week

Every week I would like to showcase a student’s post from their personal blog.
This week the post of the week is Jake’s.
The students were asked to write about a memorable vacation and use time-order words in their description. Here is Jake’s post. Great job!
This summer, I went to Kennedy Space Center and Lion Country Safari with my grandparents. First I went to Lion Country Safari. Lion Country is a drive-in zoo when YOU are the ones caged in. The animals aren’t in cages, except for the lions. LCS is in West Palm Beach. Next, we got a hotel in Titusville.

The next day, my grandfather and I went to Kennedy Space Center. My grandmother decided to stay in bed instead of going to KSC. I wanted to go to see alot of things. I wore my grandfather out! When we got back to the hotel, I played on the computer before going to a buffet for dinner. After dinner, we watched some TV and I played on the computer some more before going to bed.

I enjoyed going alot, and I thank my grandparents for taking me!

Taboo Words

Let’s get rid of boring, overused words, adjectives that don’t really describe, and words that don’t create pictures in the mind of the reader.

Taboo adjectives:
good, bad, cool, awesome, great

Taboo verbs:
said, asked

Nouns:
stuff

Here are some sites to use to gather ideas for replacement words:
