Mrs. Zavon
A little about me. I am a Jacksonville native. I went to Fort Caroline Elementary, Fort Caroline Junior High, and Terry Parker High School. I graduated from University of North Florida in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I married my husband, David in 1978 and I took a Fourth Grade position at Hyde Park Elementary. I taught there for six years. I decided to “retire” from teaching in 1984 to help out with my husband’s family shoe business and to start a family. I was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Kim and Lisa. When the girls were older, I decided to substitute at Bolles and MJGDS. I missed teaching full time and I was offered the Fifth Grade position here at MJGDS. Teaching has always been my passion and I feel so lucky to be here with your children.
Thank you for letting me be their teacher!
Morah Liat
I am a native of Bat Yam, Israel but have lived in the United States for over twenty years. I am known as Morah Liat (morah means teacher). I am a graduate of the University of North Florida. I have been teaching at MJGDS for fifteen years. I also teach Third grade (Gimmel) Jewish Studies at our school and I am the k-5th Jewish Studies Coordinator. I am married to Blair and have two children – David, a freshman at Florida State University, and a daughter, Rachel, a sophmore at Fletcher High School.
I LOVE teaching your children our Jewish Heritage, Jewish knowledge and the Hebrew language in order to develop their Jewish identifty.
