What Jo Did

Yesterday we read a story called ”What Jo Did”. This story is about a girl that can jump really high. She doesn’t know how high a basketball hoop is so her parents make her a sixteen foot basket. She is walking one day to the store because her mother wants her to get sugar and, all of a sudden a basketball rolls to her feet. Then a boy with a Bulls jersey comes out and says they need one more player to play and asks her to play. Then she realizes he thinks she’s a boy because of her hat. She says yes because she loves basketball. Then a boy with a freckled face asks her to be on his team. He also warns her about this kid named T.J. that will be playing against her. He says that T.J. is really good. The game starts and the other boys pass to her a little bit and then T.J. gets the ball and tries to shoot but Jo swats it into the next court. The boys are all surprised and then they pass to her more often. One of the boys asks her if she can dunk. Jo asks ”whats a dunk”? Then the boys explain to her what a dunk is. She jumps up to dunk the ball and jumps higher than the basket and comes down to the height of the basket and makes it. She jumps down and everybody is staring at her. She looks down and sees that her hat is on the ground. All the boys don’t know what to say. Then a boy in a Lakers jersey says that he would be on her team any day. They even gave her a nickname which was Jumping Jo. Then they said she could play with them anytime she wanted but next time she should leave the hat ay home. I think this was a really good book and that you should read it.
