In honor of the upcoming holiday of Tu B’shvat, we are going to begin our poetry unit this year with poetry about nature. You will be creating “concrete poems,” a fun style of poetry that uses shapes as part of the poem.
Go to this website to construct your concrete poem. Choose a shape and a simple title for your poem. Here is a structure to follow:
Title
2 words that describe or tell about it, separate with commas
3 words, separate with commas
A sentence
3 words, separate with commas
2 words, separate with commas
For the last line, either repeat the title OR write a short sentence
We will be printing and next week you will illustrate these in art.

What a great idea. I can’t wait to see and read the poems.
