The ways that the 2 holidays are related is that you eat turkey on thanksgiving, and not on sukkot.

The similarities between them is that they are both holidays.

It seems to me that the first part of your answer is really saying that they are not related. The second part is obvious that they are both holidays. Try to think of the reasons we celebrate sukkot (but not related to building a sukkah).

They are related by the holidays both have to do with food and they both celebrate history from gathering grain for the Bet Hamikdash to the first thanksgiving in 1621.

Good answer. I agree that both have to do with food and they celebrate a historical event. There is one more similarity. Can you find it?

During Sukkot you build a sukkah. Molly had to build a doll. The sukkah is like giving because when the jews were traveling place to place they needed to build a home that they could bring with them. They had to give a lot to make the sukkah.

I liked your thoughts but there is still another answer. Think about the other names of Sukkot and what we celebrate other than building a Sukkah.

They both Are related Because they invite people to come over. They are Both are festivals and fall festivals.

    • avatar Morah Liat says:

They are both fall festivals but more importantly they are holidays that celebrate the harvest season.

  5. avatar lily.h says:

Sukkot and Thanksgiving are both fall harvesting festivals, because they are both about harvesting.

Excellent answer! Jewish people would build sukkot in their fields during harvest season so they could eat and sleep there at night and return to work quickly the next day. At the end of the harvest season they had a feast just like the Thanksgiving feast the pilgrims and Indians had.

  6. avatar justin.h says:

the way that the 2 holidays are related is that they both involve having a feast and the first thanksgiving began a holiday because the colonists moved to a diferent place like the jew moved to the place and built the Bet Hamegdash.

    • avatar Morah Liat says:

Great answer! The pilgrims moved to America and read in the bible that the Jewish people had a feast at harvest time so they had one too.

There are many similarities between Sukkot and Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving we invite guests to Thanksgiving dinner. On Sukkot, we invite guests to eat with us in our Sukkah. A difference is that our home is permanent and our sukkah is temporary. The Pilgrims were grateful for the food that they grew, which is like Sukkot, which is a festival of the harvest which we are gratful for. I will bring in books tomorrow with facts that compare Sukkot and Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving and Sukkot are related to each other because they are both holidays. Thanksgiving and Sukkot are not related to each other because you eat turkey on you Thanksgiving, and not on Sukkot, and one is not a jewish holiday.

You are correct that they are both holidays but more specifically they are harvest holidays. They celebrate the end of the harvest season by giving thanks to God for the food we have.

  13. avatar danielle.f says:

Sukkot and Thanksgiving are a like because they are both fall festivals and they have a good harvest too.

    • avatar Morah Liat says:

Both holidays are a celebration of a good harvest but there is no guarantee that the harvest will be good. That depended on the weather.
