Team Rogo finally reaches their destination in Sieratz. Not one Rogo family member has been back to this town in over 60 years. We wonder what we will discover about Rogo roots. The first person we meet is Jack who is the Director of City Records of Sieratz.
He shows Abe a copy of Jacob’s birth record and we find out that Abe’s daddy Jakob has been celebrating his birthday on the wrong day! His birthday is not June16th, but it is June 6th! We are all surprised and I ask if we can celebrate both days! Sadly, the only book that is missing from WW11 is the book that had the address of the Rogo family! Darn!! Every book is there except the R volume!
Jack and Simon tell Team Rogo not to be upset, but they will walk us all around the old Jewish section of Sieratz.
We walk in the rain and the first place we go to is the old synagogue that is now a warehouse. Jack and Simon are very embarrassed and apologize that it has not been kept up as a holy place to worship. It makes us sad to know that the great synagogue of Sieratz is a place to store old things.
Next we go to the Museum of Sieratz to meet the director who may have information about the Rogo family. Simon calls him “Mr. Director” and he has cookies and coffee ready for us! I ask for milk since I am a young bear and do not drink hot coffee! Mr. Director has a huge surprise for us and shows us photos of Jakob before the war. Dr. Abe gets very excited because he thinks Jakob looks just like his brother Sam! The last surprise that Mr. Director has for us is the location of the Rogo family home. He found out from 2 grandmas who seem to remember where the Rogo family lived before the war. We do not have an address, but we do have the intersection of two streets!
