Good Afternoon, Families!
Here is an important message from Morah Liat, your child’s soon-to-be Kitah Gimmel teacher!
“Dear Kitah Bet parents,
I wanted to welcome you to Kitah Gimmel and to let you know about your students’ summer reading. The book “The Magic Menorah” by Jane Zalben is not available in bookstores in Jacksonville. It is readily available online AND we have 9 copies of it at our MJGDS library. You are welcome to check the book out for the summer. Please remember the MJGDS library will close on Wed, June 6th.
Have a great summer and I look forward to teaching your children next year,
Morah Liat”
Last week was a busy and productive one where we finished up some important work:
Wordly Wise Blogger (Benjamin H.) – “This week in Wordly Wise we’re on our last lesson! My favorite word is instrument and din. Every week for Wordly Wise, we always do a crossword puzzle and listen to a story and after the story we have to answer questions about it. For Wordly Wise, we write our list words on the window. That’s half of it. Our Wordly Wise story is called Music of the Island. We are taking two tests. One is a plain test and the other is a cumulative test. A cumulative test is a test that has all of the words from all of our lists we’ve had.”
This is an excellent summary of our last week of Wordly Wise work, Benjamin! I’m very proud of how much you wrote! : )
In Math, we have been studying money. We’ve been reading, writing, and counting dollars and cents; working hands-on with play money; and calculating how much more money is needed to make $1 and $10. Here are some pictures of us working at the SMARTboard.
Last week, we celebrated two special birthdays! We’re making sure to include the kids whose birthdays are during the summer.
Here, we are having some fun at recess! What a “balanced” class we are!
Please remember the 12:00 dismissal on Thursday, June 7th. We’re looking forward to a fantastic, four-day week!
