Shalom!
We are very excited that Shavuot is coming! This week, we learned the other names for this holiday, and we read a story about how the Israelites received the Torah on Mt. Sinai. In Torah, we learned about Cain and Abel; and the punishment that God gave to Cain. The lesson was that we should control our anger.
Math Blogger (Jack) – “Monday: In math this week, we’ll be studying in our new workbook and textbook. We’re studying subtraction and addition. I know math this week is going to be fun! For homework on this Monday night we’ll be working in our extra practice book.
Tuesday: I think math is going to be great. Today we’re doing group work with a 10 x10 array. Right now, we’re checking yesterday’s homework. In some math equation’s Ms. Stein does this: part + part = whole and whole -part= part. (In my opinion, math is great and fun!) Sometimes in math we do something called number bonds. Math is smart. Today for homework, this terrific Tuesday, we’ll be doing a math unit 7 review page.
Wednesday: Today is exciting because we’re having a test!!! The test is about addition and subtraction. We don’t have any math homework this Wednesday night.
Thursday: We’re doing mental math on the SMARTboard and around the room. For homework tonight, we’re doing a mental math homework sheet.
Friday: There is no math today.”
What a detailed blog post, Jack! Excellent blogging! : )
Reading Blogger (Sage) – “In reading today we are learning about the American flag and Memorial Day. It is so so fun. I just learned something new, an astronaut landed on the moon and the flag is still there!”
Wordly Wise Blogger (Jake L.) – “This week we are doing lesson fourteen. My favorite Wordly Wise word this week is wealthy. In Wordly Wise we are reading a story called Elephant Country. Sadly, we did not write on the window. Wordly Wise is fun.”
On Thursday, Mrs. Kagan came to our room for the second part of our lesson on dragons!
On Friday, we were excited to have Mrs. Tolisano visit our classroom, and help us record Voice Thread comments about our reptile reports! What an interactive way to bring these reports to life!
We had a fun time on Friday celebrating Shavuot with our Bikkurim Festival. We also enjoyed a visit from the “Dreams Come True” foundation, and meeting a special, little girl. Eating cake was a nice surprise too!
Upcoming Events:
The Talent Show will take place on Thursday, May 31st at 2:00 PM!

The school year is really winding down. We are finished with our Spelling lists, and we have only one more Wordly Wise list to go! However, the next two weeks will be very busy and action-packed! Enjoy the day off tomorrow, and rest up!
