Extra Credit Assignment

In addition to tonight’s Math homework (Extra Practice Book p.25-26), I have assigned an optional Extra Credit Assignment. It is a worksheet on a game called “Name That Number!” This is a card game that we learned last week and played a lot today. For extra credit, the kids can write down as many answers as they can find. They do not need a real deck of cards. I sent the students home with their Hundreds Charts. Please have them bring the charts back to school tomorrow. The students know how to play, but here are the directions:

“Name That Number!”

Directions: Remove the kings, queens, jacks, and jokers. Aces have a value of one. Shuffle the cards. Deal 5 cards to the right of the pile, and a target number to the left of the pile. By adding and/or subtracting, try to make the target number, using as many cards as you can. When you make the target number, take those cards that you used. The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins!
