Budding Bloggers, Week 20

Happy Friday! Can you believe that this was our last full week of school? The students have worked so hard this week, and I’m very proud of them.

We enjoyed having a Mystery Reader on Monday morning! Arin’s sister, Rebecca read us A Flag For Our Country by Eve Spencer. It was a great book, and it related to a story we recently read in class called “Red, White, and Blue – the Story of the American Flag.” The students had a nice conversation about similarities between that story and Rebecca’s book.

Here is a summary of our week’s lessons brought to you by the following Bloggers:

Spelling Blogger (Jasmine): This week in Spelling, the prefixes were mid and mis. We also did some spelling pages. My favorite words in the regular list were misbehavior and midair, and my favorite words in the challenging list were misdiagnose, Midwest, and misperception.

Reading Blogger (Josh): This week in Reading, we read Jingle Dancer. It was about a Powwow. I liked the story because I am part Native American! Shalom!

Grammar Blogger (Parker): This week in Grammar, we studied paragraphs. There was a paragraph and we had to copy the sentences and put them in order using First, Next, Then, and Soon. We all wrote a paragraph about something special that we like celebrating most. Shabbat Shalom!

Wordly Wise Blogger (Zach): This is the 15th lesson! Anyway, this week in Wordly Wise, we read a story about making steel drums on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Did you know that when making steel drums, they have to be red hot? You have to be on a beach to take them to the ocean to cool them off. My favorite word was base. There are 9 more words. That’s all I have for this week. Shalom!

Math Blogger (Benjamin): In Math, we are learning to tell time. We are learning about the hour hand and the minute hand. We are telling time after and before the hour, and we are estimating how long activities take to complete.

Social Studies Blogger (Julia): This week, we learned about the Native American culture and the Powwow ceremony. The Crow nation celebrates “Buffalo  Days” every summer. People from other tribes come to celebrate their traditions and customs too.

On Thursday, the students exchanged stars earned for good behavior that they had saved up in Library class for these fun toys and items!

Shabbat Shalom & have a fun, safe Memorial Day weekend. See you on Tuesday!
