פרשת השבוע במדבר Parshat HaShavua Bamidbar Portion of the week is Numbers ( in Hebrew it literally means In the desert). Yes, we are starting a new book in the Torah!!! (The portions we learn continue in our same book starting on page 24.)
On Friday, this week we will be enjoying the בכורים Bikkurim First Fruits ceremony with the whole school in honor of the holiday of שבועות Shavuot. Please note that we will be dressed in white and will bring fruit to be donated. The holiday begins on Sat. PM and we are so proud that we still remember the 10 Commandments that we learned for our Hagigat HaSiddur!! We will remember them hopefully all the rest of our lives. See letter below for more information.
חג שמח Chag Sameach! Happy Holiday of Shavuot!!
Dear Parents,
On Friday, May 25th, our school will be celebrating the holiday of Shavuot (which begins Saturday evening, 5/26).
In accordance with the traditions of the holiday, we are requesting that you please have your child…
-
Wear white &
-
Bring a basket with fresh fruit and vegetables to school (please label the basket with your child’s name so it can be returned to you)
We will march with our “bikkurim” (with our baskets representing the traditional “first fruits from the harvest”) from the Gazebo to the Main Sanctuary as reenactment of the annual pilgrimage that took place in Biblical times in Jerusalem on Shavuot.
Thank You,
